Georgina has a distinct and captivating artistic style that sets her apart: loosely figurative, subtly abstract, and inherently joyful. Her paintings are irresistibly captivating, drawing viewers in with a magnetism that demands attention.
Located in Nelson, New Zealand. Georgina's artistic practice spans various mediums, including painting on linen, canvas, plywood, and paper.
Drawing inspiration from her background in print design, Georgie brings a unique approach to her work by developing distinctive colour palettes that serve as a foundation for each series of artworks. Guided by intuition, she employs expressive brushstrokes to create vibrant and uplifting pieces that exude strength and joy.
After completing a BA and BCom, she worked as a graphic design account manager and freelance designer. Her educational journey continued in London, where she enrolled in fantastic classes on textile and print design at Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, and Camberwell College of Arts. Subsequently, she established a career as a freelance printed-textile designer in Barcelona, Spain.
Back in NZ with three children, Georgina felt a growing desire to be creative again. Despite time constraints, she found a moment to pick up the paintbrush and got hooked. Energetic and intuitive, colour is Georgina's constant inspiration and she considers herself first and foremost a colourist. She selects a set of colours to form a collection, and while her palettes are intuitive, they evolve with contemporary fashion, and design trends. Georgie's trademark is warm, earthy, autumnal shades—an endless source of inspiration and a continuous challenge to harmonise.
