CHIMP

CHIMP, a contemporary artist, views the world as layered abstractions competing for attention. Once an adventurous skateboarder, CHIMP now paints urban spaces influenced by his roots in nature. From exploring Aotearoa's south coast to hiking Mt Everest basecamp, these experiences shape CHIMP's artistic journey, mainly expressed through spray paint.  With graphic design skills from his early years, CHIMP now focuses on using spray paint as his primary medium for destructive vs reparative qualities. Through the careful construction of paintings, murals, and three-dimensional pieces, CHIMP conveys a limitless world that people can embrace. CHIMP views the blank canvas not as a source of enjoyment, but as an urgent need to push beyond limitations.
