Jo Kreyl

Kiwi artist Jo Kreyl, a master of various mediums, freezes the beauty of everyday objects in time, inviting viewers to connect with their stories.

Upper Hutt artist Jo Kreyl graduated in 1991 with a Visual Communication and Design degree from Wellington Polytechnic. She's since explored various creative avenues, mastering acrylics, oils, watercolors, resin, and sculpture.

Jo's paintings celebrate the beauty of ordinary objects, delving into their hidden histories. She elevates the mundane, freezing everyday items in time like precious treasures under a Victorian glass dome. This theme of enhancing objects' inherent beauty, known as kalopsia, permeates her work.
