Leo White, an experienced photographer since the 1920s, worked for the Weekly News and played a significant role in Auckland's aviation scene in the 1920s-1930s. He pioneered aerial photography in the region and authored 'Wingspread, a history of New Zealand Aviation' in 1941. White also served as a photographer for the RNZAF during WWII. In the early 1950s, he captured aerial photographs for 'Whites pictorial reference of New Zealand', covering the entire country.
